We’re delighted to launch the Lucciola.me photography portfolio website. Lucciola specialises in travel, nature and cultural photography so a clean and elegant and tasteful portfolio website was needed to allow the photographs themselves enough space to breath and show their aesthetic value, keeping text minimal and reinforcing rather than distracting from the visual theme.
The site’s format can be updated easily by the photographers themselves, making it easy to refresh the portfolio by for example replacing older photographs whose style may no longer be relevant. These categories/genres can be broken down too by sub-genre, to allow easier filtering for the visitor who may have a specific area of interest.
webSEOlive developed the branding for the Lucciola.me photography portfolio website in-house, with a prominent but subtle logo and supporting colour scheme using transparent elements again designed not to distract from the photographs. The logo itself was designed to reflect the brand name (lucciola meaning firefly in Italian), fireflies illuminating the dark – perhaps an apt metaphor for photography in some circumstances?
The blog aspect of the site allows the photographer to add daily photographs that they feel are of interest but may not fit or make their ‘portfolio’. The bonus of a having a ‘blog’ on a photography portfolio is that it should potentially attract photography enthusiasts to the site, alongside those a photographer is hoping might commission a work, as well as advertising any exhibitions and news. This part of the site also generates interest and ‘activity’ via all-important Facebook & Twitter feeds that help attract visitors regularly back to the site.
The photography portfolio website is also optimised and bundled with e-commerce functionality, which can be enabled (and disabled) very easily, to allow the photographer to sell his works directly via the website.
