More than Bags and Cars – Art for L’Aquila

This is one fundraising project very dear to our heart, which appears to be be affected by ‘corporate social fatigue’.  Come on sponsors stop just giving away bags and cars and instead invest in working artisans people and future of the Abruzzo.

Art for L'Aquila Fundraising Auction & ExhibitionThe countdown has begun to the fundraising ‘Art for L’Aquila’ Auction & Exhibition, held from 29th June to 2nd July, hosted by the Italian Cultural Institute London and organised by the Minerva Art Project.  Bloomsbury Auctions will be conducting the celebrity-attended auction on Thursday 2nd July at 6.30pm.

Blandine Martin, Minerva Art Project co-ordinator said:
“We have been overwhelmed both by the generosity and sense of community from artists worldwide to help make this event a reality and raise much needed funds.  With donated works from leading artists from both L’Aquila Abruzzo and internationally acclaimed artists the exhibition & sale is looking to be a great success and has already generated media interest UK & worldwide.

We are still looking for corporate sponsors who fiscally want to be involved supporting this high profile event.  We do seem to be suffering from ‘corporate responsibility fatigue’ where multi-national companies seem only willing to be involved in fundraising for l’Aquila if it involves giving away for free their own products rather than small-scale investment.

This is a wonderful cause, helping to restore confidence amongst a set of people who had their world literally swept from under their feet.  In addition it helps look to the future and show that this remarkable area of Central Italy has something else beyond an earthquake associated with it, in this case a wealth of artistic talent, and that should be fostered to help grow the popularity of the region and its economy.“
