One example of alternative online marketing was the relaunch of the Gratistours website, a low budget low profile travel portal. To fully capitalise on the heady success of Second Life in Germany webSEOlive proposed a viral Second Life machinima video for YouTube as well as creating a virtual island to help foster relationships & provide space online to chat about past or planned holidays.

webSEOlive commissioned La-interactiva to create the video and selected & sourced music rights from Palo Alto. During ITB (the Berlin Travel Fair), Gratistours themed their physical stand as their Second Life Island, which attracted plenty of press and a giant step in consumer brand awareness. A double-page feature about their initiative was published in two of Germany’s leading travel magazines as well as invitations to talk at subsequent travel & digital conferences across Germany, Austria & Switzerland to further aid brand awareness.
